Rozenama Raises $150K Pre-Seed to Centralize Iraq’s Social Commerce Sector

Rozenama Secures Pre-Seed Capital to Digitize Iraqi Retail

Baghdad-based e-commerce startup Rozenama has raised a $150,000 pre-Seed funding round from Mohammed Haider, CEO of Aljasmi Perfumes. Founders Abbas Muhil and Mohammed Fawzi will direct the fresh capital toward rebuilding the underlying platform and expanding the merchant base across Iraq's regional governorates.

Founded in 2022, Rozenama targets a specific behavioral reality in Iraqi retail: merchants sell primarily through Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. Rather than forcing these businesses to adopt foreign e-commerce templates, Rozenama consolidates their existing fragmented processes into a single localized system.

Replacing Social Media Storefronts

Many Iraqi merchants currently manage orders through direct messages, track inventory in spreadsheets or physical notebooks, and arrange deliveries across separate applications. Rozenama replaces this manual tracking with a structured digital platform.

The platform equips businesses with the following integrated tools:

  • Arabic-language branded storefronts requiring no development experience.
  • End-to-end order and inventory management.
  • Direct integrations with local delivery providers and payment gateways.
  • Native support for cash-on-delivery, the dominant payment method in Iraq.
  • Granular analytics tracking sales by governorate, customer, and product.

Rozenama operates a freemium subscription model. A dedicated Baghdad-based team handles Arabic-language onboarding and training, ensuring merchants can adopt the software without extensive technical backgrounds.

Surging Traction Beyond the Capital

The startup demonstrates steady adoption among local sellers. Over the past year, Rozenama grew its active merchant base from 250 to over 1,000 paying businesses, while surpassing 13,000 registered users.

"Governorates outside Baghdad have accounted for most of our growth over the past six months, underscoring a nationwide demand for localized e-commerce tools," the company stated in its latest performance update.

While Baghdad remains the primary launchpad, Rozenama plans to bring its commerce infrastructure to merchants throughout Iraq's remaining governorates, positioning itself as a nationwide utility rather than a capital-centric service.

Engineering the Next Iteration

With the $150,000 injection, Rozenama is financing product development and engineering operations. The startup plans to roll out a comprehensively rebuilt version of its platform on August 25, 2026.

The investment provides the necessary runway to shift Iraqi merchants away from messaging apps and toward structured online retail. By linking storefronts, delivery networks, and payments into one interface, Rozenama is building the foundational digital layer for the country's local commerce sector.
