DHA Suffa Students Win PKR 1 Million at Google AI Seekho 2026 as 50,000 Pakistani Developers Ship AI Products

Two students from Karachi's DHA Suffa University won the PKR 1 million grand prize at Google AI Seekho 2026, topping a nationwide developer competition that drew more than 50,000 participants. The event distributed a total of PKR 2.5 million to top teams, marking a sharp acceleration in Pakistan's artificial intelligence development capacity.
Google for Developers organized the free initiative alongside the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT), Telenor Pakistan, and Innovista. The competition required participants to build functional software using Google AI Studio, Gemini APIs, and Google Antigravity. Teams applied vibe coding—a technique of developing software through natural language prompts rather than traditional syntax—to rapidly prototype their applications.
The Numbers Behind Google AI Seekho
The program recorded the following statistics during its national run:
- 50,000+ developers and innovators engaged
- 17,000+ formal registrations
- 1,500+ AI-powered projects submitted
- 2,600+ teams formed during regional rounds
- 600+ regional and national project submissions
Professional developers made up 40% of the participants, proving the event reached beyond standard university student audiences. Women accounted for 25% of the total cohort, indicating expanding demographic participation in Pakistan's technology sector.
National Finale Winners
Team Struggler from DHA Suffa University secured first place by building a single-player game that adjusts its difficulty in real time based on user performance. The duo built the dynamic system entirely on Google Antigravity.
Team Nurture from Islamabad took second place with Hazir, an automated booking platform that matches users with service providers like plumbers and drivers while handling the entire workflow. Third place went to Team Viberonix, a duo of self-taught developers from Sahiwal who built an AI marketplace. Their placement demonstrates how access to frontier tools empowers builders outside major technology hubs like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
Post-Finale Builders Days
Following the main competition, Google Developer Groups hosted dedicated Builders Days in Islamabad and Karachi on August 8 and 9. The Islamabad event at the National Incubation Centre (NIC) gathered 80 selected teams for 36 hours of intensive prototyping. Participants focused on four core tracks: health, economic efficiency, education, and green sustainability. GDG Kolachi executed the Karachi leg, maintaining a strict focus on shipping functional software for immediate market problems.
From Prototyping to Production
The competition creates a direct pipeline from hackathons to commercial markets. Organizers connected top performers to the National Incubation Centres, the Pakistan Startup Fund, and global freelancing platforms. This structure pushes local developers to build proprietary products rather than relying solely on gig work.
"With 65% of Pakistan’s population under 35, AI education is a core government priority so that young Pakistanis can compete in the global market," noted Federal Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
By lowering the barrier to entry through prompt-based development, Google AI Seekho establishes a new baseline for what Pakistani developers can build and commercialize on the global stage.
