Saudi Edge AI Startup RIME Secures $2 Million Seed Round to Expand On-Site Operations

Riyadh-based operational artificial intelligence startup RIME raised more than $2 million in a Seed funding round led by SEEDRA Ventures. Athla Investment, Unity Invest Partners, and a syndicate of angel investors also participated in the round. RIME will allocate the funds to expand its operations across Saudi Arabia and accelerate the engineering of its proprietary edge-computing platform.
Founded in 2024 by Mohammed Almarshidi and Arif Alotaibi, RIME engineers a physical AI platform. The system deploys autonomous AI agents directly into operational environments, including retail storefronts, logistics warehouses, and service centers. Instead of routing data to centralized cloud servers, RIME utilizes edge computing and the Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) to process visual and sensor data locally.
Processing at the Edge
This localized computing infrastructure allows AI systems to execute real-time decisions at the point of data capture. RIME currently integrates more than 6,000 cameras with AI agents across 2,000 operational sites throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
The platform aggregates visual data from on-site cameras and pairs it with hardware sensor outputs. Organizations use this system to automate immediate responses, monitor compliance, and reduce material waste without relying on constant cloud connectivity.

Infrastructure over Foundation Models
The Seed round follows a Pre-Seed investment also led by SEEDRA Ventures. Rather than developing foundational AI models, investors are backing RIME's approach to retrofitting physical operations.
According to SEEDRA Ventures Co-founder Abdullah Al Munif, the core technical opportunity rests in transforming existing enterprise infrastructure into intelligent systems capable of real-time operational decision-making, rather than solely focusing on parameter-heavy models.
Moving forward, RIME will utilize the new funding to hire specialized engineering talent, develop subsequent iterations of its AI platform, and roll out its hardware-software systems to new enterprise clients across Saudi Arabia. This technical deployment aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Data and AI, which mandate the acceleration of AI integration within the Kingdom's domestic industries.
